Safari Activities

A stay at Mvuu Lodge offers a diverse range of safari activities, often included in the full-board packages

    • Boat Safaris: This is a major highlight. Cruising along the Shire River in a custom-built boat allows you to get up close to hippos, crocodiles, and elephants that come to the river to drink. It’s also a fantastic way to experience the park’s incredible birdlife
    • Game Drives: Day and night game drives in open safari vehicles allow you to explore the park’s various habitats, from woodlands to open plains. Liwonde National Park has undergone significant conservation efforts by African Parks, with the reintroduction of lions, cheetahs, and black rhinos, making sightings of these animals increasingly common.
    • Walking Safaris: Guided walks with armed rangers provide a unique perspective on the bush. You can learn about smaller creatures, tracks, and local flora that you might miss from a vehicle.
    • Birdwatching: Liwonde National Park is a paradise for birders, with over 400 species. Mvuu Lodge is a prime location for spotting specials like the Pel’s Fishing Owl and Böhm’s Bee-eater.
