Who writes this

This guide is written by someone who overlanded much of Africa in his own Land Cruiser with a rooftop tent, and for whom the national parks were what stayed. The information about them online was usually missing, wrong or years old: fees from three tariff sheets ago, camps that had closed, roads described by people who had never driven them.

So he started writing it down properly. This guide runs on the park authority's own tariff documents, on climate normals rather than brochure weather, and on what the camps tell us directly, with a date on every claim.

What this site is

A guide to Liwonde written by no-one with a booking to make. Malawi publishes no national park tariff, so we work from the park's own rate sheet and say clearly when a figure could not be confirmed.

How we handle missing figures

Park fees come from the park's own published rate sheet, not from copied operator pages, and the fees page shows when we last checked it. That matters here: the entry fee went to $30, and much of the internet still quotes $25 or even $10. The official sheet counts fees per person per night, which is not how it is usually quoted.

Malawi publishes very little, and every one of those gaps is marked. Nobody has published predator counts since the reintroduction years, Mvuu publishes no rate card, and Malawi has no national park-fee gazette, so in each case we tell you that and show our best available source. Wildlife likelihoods are labelled as calibrated judgement, not fact.
