Every lodge, camp and campsite in and around the park, from simple campsites to exclusive-use camps on the game circuits. Independently listed.
Robin Pope Safaris' Liwonde camp takes the open-plain setting rather than the riverfront, which gives it long views over grassland to the Shire. Five tents keep it intimate, and it is the only camp here where the headline rate includes your drinks. Closed each February for maintenance.

The backpacker base for Liwonde, inside its own fenced conservation area just west of the gate. It runs its own game drives and boat safaris at $30 a head, which stacked with the fees still undercuts almost every organised alternative. Local ownership is inferred from its Malawian contacts rather than confirmed.
From $15 camping
The relaxed, family-friendly sibling of Mvuu Lodge, and the camp most Liwonde itineraries are built around. The two hides, one up a tree and one underground, are the draw: you sit at water level while elephants and antelope come to you. Mvuu means hippo in Chichewa, and the name is earned.

A small Malawian-run eco camp with the lowest confirmed prices around the park: ten dollars to camp, thirty-five for a private chalet for two. It sells its own tiered safari menu, from a basic two-hour trip to a private five-hour outing, and throws in stargazing for overnight guests.
From $10 camping
The flagship of the park, set where a lagoon meets the Shire. Three of the eight units have plunge pools, and the lodge runs on the quiet-luxury register rather than showy safari style. The operator is a Malawian family-run company founded in 1987 that grew into a multi-property portfolio.

The park's own tented camp, and the only mid-priced full-board option inside Liwonde. It reopened around June 2025 after an extensive renovation, so ignore older descriptions of a 2020-vintage camp. Solar power, gas geysers, two camp hands and a straightforward promise: what you pay funds the park.
From $150 pppn
A whole four-bedroom house to yourselves inside the park, announced in December 2024 and the newest beds in Liwonde. For a full group of ten it works out around $80 a head, which is remarkable value for exclusive use, and the revenue goes to the park.
$800 per house per night
The second park-run house on Chinguni Hill, priced above the larger Chinguni House despite having fewer bedrooms. Nothing published explains the difference, which presumably reflects a superior setting or specification; ask the park when you book if it matters to you.
$1,000 per house per night
Twelve dollars buys you a pitch inside a fully restored national park. Add the $30 park fee and an international visitor sleeps in Liwonde for about $42 a night, which very few parks of this quality anywhere in Africa can match. Bring your own gear or hire a tent for $25.
$12 per person
The strongest community story in this list: a lodge founded around 2002 and owned by a cooperative of several villages, built to generate local income and conservation awareness. You sleep in traditional huts, with or without a mattress as you choose, and spend the day inside real village life rather than watching it from a vehicle.

Liwonde has 10 places to stay, 7 of them inside the park. Camping starts at $10 a person at Shire Eco Safari Camp and the all-inclusive camps run to about $690 a person in peak season; Ligulo House is $1,000 for the whole house on a self-catering basis. Mvuu Camp and Mvuu Lodge are the two inside the park proper and both are reached by boat up the Shire. Every one is listed below with its rate.
Liwonde has a genuinely local story at both ends of the budget. Njobvu Cultural Village Lodge is owned by a cooperative of several villages, Shire Eco Safari Camp is Malawian-run, and the park's own Chimwala Camp, Chinguni House, Ligulo House and campsite put your money straight into conservation. Look for Locally owned or Owner-run in the line under each name if you want your spending to stay in Malawi.
