Chimwala Camp
Meru safari tents in local stone and thatch, perimeter-fenced · Against Chinguni Hill in the southern sector, 15 minutes from the main gate · Liwonde National Park (African Parks / DNPW)
We don't have a photograph of Chimwala Camp yet. We only publish images we are licensed to use, so this is an illustration rather than the real thing. Run this lodge? Send us your photos and we'll swap it out.
The park's own tented camp, and the only mid-priced full-board option inside Liwonde. It reopened around June 2025 after an extensive renovation, so ignore older descriptions of a 2020-vintage camp. Solar power, gas geysers, two camp hands and a straightforward promise: what you pay funds the park.
Why you'd pick it
- A pool with floodplain views below Chinguni Hill
- Full board plus a daily activity at a mid-range price
- Owned by the park, so your money goes straight to conservation
Rates
From $150 pppn. International $200 adult, $100 child; Africa citizens and residents, and Malawian citizens, $150 and $75. Family cottage $720 per unit international. Includes all meals and one activity per day; single supplement $50.
Indicative rates gathered July 2026 from operators' own sites, the official African Parks rate sheet and, for Mvuu, third-party rate cards, since the operator publishes none. Always confirm with the lodge. Park fees of $30 per international adult are generally extra, and note that the park prices fees per person per night.
