Mvuu Camp

Stone-and-canvas chalets and family tents · On the banks of the Shire, among fever trees · Central African Wilderness Safaris

We don't have a photograph of Mvuu Camp yet. We only publish images we are licensed to use, so this is an illustration rather than the real thing. Run this lodge? Send us your photos and we'll swap it out.

The relaxed, family-friendly sibling of Mvuu Lodge, and the camp most Liwonde itineraries are built around. The two hides, one up a tree and one underground, are the draw: you sit at water level while elephants and antelope come to you. Mvuu means hippo in Chichewa, and the name is earned.

Why you'd pick it

  • A treehouse deck hide and an underground hide
  • Game moves in and out of the river in front of camp daily
  • Boma dinners and kiddies bush walks make it the best family option inside the park

Rates

From about $305 pppn. Around $345 per person sharing from July to November 2026, about $305 in December, including meals and selected activities. Reseller figures; the operator publishes no rates.

Indicative rates gathered July 2026 from operators' own sites, the official African Parks rate sheet and, for Mvuu, third-party rate cards, since the operator publishes none. Always confirm with the lodge. Park fees of $30 per international adult are generally extra, and note that the park prices fees per person per night.
